Eraly tips for closer years on the daily history game
Updated 2026-10-27. Checked against eraly.io where the note says so.
These are editorial suggestions based on the official rules and the one manual journey recorded on 27 October 2026, not a tested high-score method or a season of statistics. The sample cannot establish frequent eras or likely answers. This unofficial guide cannot guarantee 400 points. Play at eraly.io; the examples below spoil some already-recorded years.
Identify the century, then narrow the year
First decide which event is being dated, then narrow the century and decade if you can. Do not spend the entire timer chasing a last digit. Molière’s birth in 1622 and death in 1673 are in the same century but answer different questions: knowing the person alone is not enough. Source: Molière.
Separate the event from the story inside it
- Publication is not the story’s setting: Les Misérables appeared in 1862 but follows earlier events.
- Release is not an award date: Lose Yourself was released in 2002; its Oscar followed in 2003.
- Independence is not a later peace settlement: Poland’s national observance commemorates independence in 1918.
Aim at a 400-point day without fake windows
The Wardrobe sets Leaves at a daily total of at least 400. Four exact answers reach 400 even if the other three score 0; seven 60-point answers reach 420 without any exact year. Those are arithmetic examples, not predictions. The official About page says older events allow wider errors but gives no numeric windows for the bands. Do not assume an arbitrary error of five or twenty years guarantees a particular score.
If you want the ladder without years, use today’s hints. If the guess is already spent, the scoring page is the place to read the band you landed on.
